Ham Companion Pro is designed to be approachable for a brand-new operator and useful to an experienced one. These quick guides cover the features most likely to need a little setup.
Getting started
- Complete the welcome guide and operator profile.
- Allow location only if you want automatic grid and QTH suggestions.
- Open Learn for guided CW lessons or Practice for focused drills.
Voice answers
Enable Microphone and Speech Recognition access when asked. Press the microphone button, wait for Speak Now, and answer clearly. Phonetics such as India or Sierra usually give the best results.
External straight key or paddle
Connect a USB keyboard-style key interface, then open Settings, choose Hardware Key, select Straight Key or Paddle, and use Test Key Interface to confirm clean presses.
A photographed connection guide will be added after release as compatible adapters and cables are field-tested.
iCloud synchronization
Sign in to the same Apple Account and enable iCloud on each device. Your operator profile and CW learning progress should update across iPhone, iPad, and Mac. POTA working logs remain local to the device.
POTA Activation Assistant
Start an activation, log contacts in UTC, and export a clean ADIF file. Then sign in to the official Parks on the Air website to upload it. Ham Companion Pro never asks for or stores your POTA password.
Satellites and live information
Satellite elements, passes, park details, and space-weather data require an internet connection to refresh. Location permission improves station-aware results but can be replaced by a manually entered grid square.
